Unfortunatly the grocer has to buy the whole shipment, and therefor sell it all. Anyone who grows food knows everything ripens in its own time, so in a shipment some will be over ripe some under and some just right. I don’t like it either and am not a grocer, but thats money. The way I avoid this problem is by not buying packages! Then you have the right to pick and choose each piece of food.
you’ve got a point but the bottom line is no shop should be selling fruit that is too ripe, (let alone mouldy) or unripe. why should people have to spend their hard earned money on produce that they have to throw out when they get home? the reason they sell them in packets is so can sell the bad ones along with the good ones & make a profit.
when you break open a package to swap out what you don’t want it is theft. How would you like to be the person left with the unripe fruit. Or perhapse the person who finds only over ripe moldy stuff because someone swaped. You pay for the package so chose your package wisely. Don’t cause the store owner to loose out due to picked threw packs. Ask a produce man if you disagree!
