Tattoo ideas – Symbols of Strength

]]>
Your symbol of strength is uniquely yours. You wear it because it connects you to someone who gave you inspiration or support when you most needed it. It might remind you of an event or incident that you can pull on to give you strength. While you can choose a tattoo design that literally means “strength”, as in Kanji, the important thing is to have a design that gives you strength. You can choose from a number of designs as long as the one you chose has a special meaning and significance to you.
Animal Tattoo Designs
A number of cultures used animal images to give them strength. They admired certain animals for their strength, courage or endurance. By tattooing the animal images on their bodies they hoped to become more like them. Wearing an image of a strong or courageous animal, such as a bear, lion or wolf, would give that person those same qualities. This might apply to you – the person who gives you strength could be represented by an image of a powerful animal, one renowned for its strength and courage.
Tribal Tattoo Designs
Tribal tattoos can evoke images in the mind of tribal battles for leadership, fighting for survival or dominance, hunting wild animals, braving the elements. Through them we can connect to early ancestors, who had to fight for survival. Whether the tattoos were done as part of a rite of passage, or to denote a position in the tribe or as an animal totem, they were all done crudely which inflicted pain. Just having the tattoo said the wearer was a person of courage because of the pain endured. Indeed, some tattoos were done simply to test a person’s ability to endure pain – a test of courage.
Angel or Wing Tattoo Designs
People in the West are a familiar with Guardian Angels and as special messengers from God. Angels are featured in a number of religions and cultures. They are usually represented as creatures with wings. An angel tattoo can remind us of strength as we are protected or inspired by these spiritual creatures. Wing tattoos can also act in the same way. An image of wings can help us feel safe or free – as in flight. How many oppressed people or prisoners or those who have lost freedom have dreamed of flying to freedom. Songs have been written about it.
Maybe there is someone in your life you see as your guardian angel, someone who inspires you, lifts you up. Perhaps it is an event – something you saw or did that makes you spirit take flight. A tattoo design of an angel or a set of wings could bring this to mind, to give you strength.
Cross Tattoos Designs
The cross is an enduring symbol of faith, hope and love. It can be used to remind you to have faith when things turn against you. It can be used to sustain you through tough times. It can be used to give you strength by making a spiritual connection to someone you love.
There are other tattoo designs that can give you strength: the crown, a symbol of authority and leadership; the dragon, with its strength and magical powers; inspirational texts or quotes used by people you love or admire.
The tattoo design you choose to give you strength may be on public display but the feelings it evokes in you are uniquely yours. This is one tattoo that should be done just for you.

Taurus Tribal Tattoo Symbols – Tips On Your New Tattoo

So you’ve made the decision that you want a Taurus tribal tattoo symbol as your new body art, but have you put much time into considering the research that needs to be done beforehand? Getting inked can be an expensive proposition, so taking the appropriate time to find the right piece of art work can make all the difference between a decent tattoo and a fantastic tattoo. There are so many free places to get tribal tattoo artwork, but you run the scary risk of copying someone’s design. And you are getting this tattoo to stand out, right?
The Taurus as a symbol has grown as a great choice, and I think a huge part of this reason is that the zodiac and all things astrological have become increasingly popular lately. Taurus is the Second Sign of the Zodiac, and is represented by the bull, often prized for strength and vigor. Taurus wants the good things in life. They are deeply loving with very good values, but can often take longer to make decisions. It is easy to see why the symbol of Taurus would make a wonderful choice for your new tattoo.
But you need to remember that you get what you pay for, and free tattoo artwork is not the best route to go. I highly recommend using a pay site to do your research on your new tattoo. A little money spent beforehand can save you a lot of money in the long run by allowing you to find the right artwork for you and your personality.

Ancient Celtic Symbols: A Mysterious Mix of Traditions
Many people today have come to love ancient Celtic symbols. We see the popularity of Celtic tattoos, as well as all kinds of calendars, t-shirts, murals and other artwork depicting Celtic knotwork, crosses and mandalas. Many of these designs are striking and beautiful, but what is their origin?
The ancient Celts were a mysterious people who did not keep historical records. Their tradition was mainly an oral one, passed down from generation to generation. Most of what historians know about the Celts comes from what others, primarily the Romans, said about them. Since the Romans and Celts were not exactly friendly, to put it mildly, this makes some of their reporting possibly less than reliable. Add to this the usual problems of verifying information from over a thousand years ago, and you begin to see how murky it can get.
The Celts appear in history around 600 BC. Some of the ancient megaliths that are commonly associated with them, such as Stonehenge, were built by pre-Celtic people whose exact identity is not known. Some of the symbols associated with the Celts, such as spirals and crosses were also made by pre-Celtic peoples. The cross, in one form or another, is a very common symbol that has been used by many ancient peoples, long before Christianity started using it as their symbol.
The Celts incorporated many of these older symbols into a unique and unmistakable style of art. Perhaps the most notable Celtic motif is their distinctive knotwork, which began to appear in the early Christian era. While we cannot say for sure exactly what meaning knots had for the early Celts, the patterns certainly suggest some spiritual meanings, such as infinity, interconnectedness and perhaps the blending of dualities.
Another distinctive Celtic practice was the use of animals, known as zoomorphic images, which often combine human, animal and mythical creatures. Many of these images can be found in the Celtic Christian manuscript, the Book of Kells. In fact, many contemporary designs have been inspired by this medieval illustrated book.
The ancient and medieval Celts did not exist in isolation, but were often in contact (and at war) with other tribes, as well as the Roman Empire. So Celtic art and culture is an amalgam of ideas and styles inspired by the pre-Celtic peoples of Britain who left us with their mysterious monuments and carvings, the surrounding influences, which eventually included Christianity, and of course what the Celts themselves created and changed to their own style.
This mixture of influences does not detract from the contributions made by the Celts. This, in fact, is common to almost all cultures. The Romans, for example, were strongly influenced by the Greeks, who in turn were influenced by the Egyptians, etc. Yet the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans and Celts alike all developed cultures uniquely their own.
If certain ancient Celtic symbols were originally created by earlier peoples, this is simply the way the world works. One symbol, for example, that we often see in contemporary Celtic design is the triskele, a triple spiral. This is a very ancient design found on monuments such as Newgrange in Ireland, which dates back to around 3,000 BC. We cannot say exactly what this design meant to the people who originally drew it. Later interpretations, however, have connected the triple spiral to the Trinity, while neo-Pagans say it represents the Triple Goddess.
The great thing about symbols is that they have so many meanings, and it is up to you to choose which is meaningful to you. Ancient Celtic symbols are especially rich in their ability to inspire contemplation and appreciation.

Wrist Tribal Tattoos – Symbols Of Power
In some cultures, wrist tribal tattoos, also known as seals or stamps, were recognized as a symbol of power and authority. Wrist tribal tattoos were worn by government personnel to demonstrate rank or to identify a person as royalty. Wrist stamps were often duplicated on ancient “legal” or “royal” documents to identify its owner.
Tattoo fans everywhere are showing their personal creativity by selecting and modifying these designs, making them “their own”. New patterns for wrist tribal tattoos are popping up everywhere. Veteran and newcomer artists are producing designs that are truly original and in high demand.
Show your love and commitment with wrist tribal tattoos
Wrist tribal tattoos were an ancient tradition and art form and were commonly used as symbols of commitment or marriage between partners. The tradition continues into today’s world and it is not unusual to see couples with matching wrist tribal tattoos.
Patterns used to form wrist tribal tattoos are similar to armband or ankle designs. Common practices include encircling the wrist with a “bracelet” or inking a single symbol or “stamp” on the inner wrist. The use of animals, birds, butterflies, and geometric patterns are favorite symbols that used to make wrist tribal tattoo designs.
Whatever pattern you choose, duplicating the wrist tribal tattoo designs of your loved one is a strong statement of love and commitment.
