anyones one in LA know of a good tattoo place that knows their Asian characters?

I want to get one or two Chinese/Japanese characters and even my native-born Chinese and Japanese speaking/reading/writing friends have problems with interpreting characters. I want the symbol that means “Hope” in Japanese or Chinese and the symbol that means “Half-Asian” or “Hapa” in Japanese. Apparently because of the way the languages are, the symbols have multiple meanings, I want to get as close to accurate as I can but am stuck. Every tattoo parlor I’ve been too has different symbols for these words and say they have the same meaning and even my friends read them differently. I don’t want to get a tattoo that says something I don’t want to say. Any suggestions?

I know many people who have characters that later on they find out are not what they thought they meant – an actor friend said he wanted to be a star, as in famous actor, and his tattoo means bright sun or something instead of actor or theater – see what I mean?

Looking for a tattooist in NW Indiana/Chicago-land for comic/cartoon characters?

Specifically, I would like to get a half or full back tattoo of the Thundercats characters and logo.

Do you suppose people have tattoos of asian characters, only to find out they don’t mean what they wanted?

I have my suspicions they don’t all mean hope love etc.

Ideas for a tattoo of 2 very different animals or cartoon characters?

I want to get a tattoo representing my partner and I. We are very different and I want a tattoo representing that. I want a picture of two different animals (cat and mouse, cat and fish) or two cartoon characters that don’t normally get along (Sylvester and Tweety Bird, Spongebob and Squidward).. Any ideas?

Who thinks that asian tattoos (characters) look stupid on people who are non asian?

I do, cause it has nothing to do with your family blood line, and that the characters could mean anything. For ex. the symbol strength on your arm really means “dumb ass” etc. Why don’t people from there own kind have a tattoo that shows pride in your own race. I’m non asian, i just want to know what others think of this, cause i think it’s stupid.
