I need some cool names for a pet…?

I’m getting a Blue Tongued Skink in a couple of days from a breeder, and I’m almost certain it’s a female. I want some naming ideas, since I’m kind of stuck. I want something unusual, something you wouldn’t hear a pet being called everyday.

So far I’ve come up with: Gauge, Novacaine (call it Nova for short if it turns out to be definitely female, Caine if a boy), Misery (Stephen King novel), Azura, Smurfette, Tattoo, Rogue, or Isabella (not Izzie or Bella, both too common pet names).

What do you think of this? Can you guys give me any other suggestions that I might like? I don’t mind anything feminine as long as it sounds beautiful. I’ll take anything decent sounding into consideration.

Is this story a good FF? Is it Lime of Fluff?

As I was walking toward Miss Honda, I realized that something was off. That stupid cat was all over her, as usual, but something wasn’t quite right. There seemed to be a sand storm approaching…that was more than unusual. We lived nowhere near a desert. Then I realized it wasn’t a sand storm. There was a man walking towards us and he was surrounded by sand. Finally he got close enough to be within earshot, and he started to speak.
“I apologize for the sand. My gourd is broken. Do you mind if I stay here for a moment to fix it?” He asked in a dark, enchanting voice. Absolutely mesmerized by his beauty I nodded.
“Hai, you may.” He smiled and sat down to fix the large gourd. He had red hair and jade-green eyes. He had a tattoo of the Kana for “love” on his forehead just above one of his eyes.
“What’s your name?” I asked timidly, fully aware that I was blushing.
“Subaku-no-Gaara. And you are?”
“Yuki Sohma. I’m very pleased to meet you, Gaara. Would you like to stay for dinner? You seem like you could use some rest.”
“Sure, I have been traveling for a while. Thank you.”
“So, where you from?” I asked sitting down beside him.
“Sunagakure. I’m not supposed to be here, I was upset though so I left Suna to walk the countryside. I must get back soon…it was foolish of me to have left my village unattended.”
“Are you important to the village? Like a guard or something?” Gaara laughed.
“I’m the Kazekage.” My eyes widened, I was sitting next to one of the 5 great Kage. I bowed to him.
“My apologies. I didn’t realize-”
“No, it’s nice being treated like a normal person.” I blushed deeply, and I noticed he was blushing too.
“Hey, Rat. Who’s you’re friend?” Kyo asked walking over with Tohru.
“I’m Subaku-no-Gaara.”
“Who?”
“Gaara Of The Sand.” He repeated.
“Saying it in English doesn’t help.” God Kyo truly is a stupid cat. I thought to myself.
“The 5th Kazekage.” I said glaring at him. Tohru bowed, as she was supposed to. Kyo remained indifferent.
“Whatever.” He walked away.
“Please forgive him.” Tohru said with a small smile.
“It’s fine.” Gaara seemed to have sad eyes…and I felt a strange need to fix that.
“He’s joining us for dinner, Honda-San.” Her eyes got very bright.
“Wonderful! What would you like, Lord Kazekage?”
“Anything is fine, and please, call me Gaara.”
“Yes sir, dinner will be out soon, Lor- I mean Gaara!” She called from behind her, walking into the house to get dinner ready.
This Yuki…he was being so kind to me…even before he new I was Kazekage. Why? I wanted to find out. Yuki was quite a beautiful boy…his hair was silver, along with his rather large, feminine eyes. He looked at me with such genuine interest…I was beginning to wonder if he was flirting with me. Yuki’s eyes were lonely, something that was often said about my own eyes. I had never dated anyone before, and I thought maybe if Yuki was as lonely as me…he might actually save me from myself.
“Yuki-San?”
“Hai, Gaara-Sama?”
“Why are your eyes so sad?”
“My family is cursed. Each of my family members is possessed by the vengeful spirit of an animal from the Chinese Zodiac. Whenever one of us becomes weak or is hugged by a member of the opposite sex, we change into our zodiac animal. I‘ve never had many friends, for the fear of them finding out.” I felt sorry for Yuki.
“I’m sorry, Yuki-San.” He smiled.
“It’s not your fault…you know Gaara-Sama, you have sad eyes too. Is there a story behind that?”
“Hai, I suppose there is. Before my birth, my father ordered Lady Chiyo to seal the One-Tailed Shukaku within me, in hopes that I would become the ultimate weapon for Sunagakure. Because a human sacrifice was needed, my mother, Karura, was used. Before she died, she cursed Sunagakure, hoping I would avenge her death. I was trained by my father, but raised mainly by my maternal uncle, Yashamaru.
Because of the power of Shukaku, the villagers of Suna hated and feared me, seeing me only for the monster sealed within me. For a time, Yashamaru seemed to be the only person who cared about me. Because of the danger I imposed, my father began sending assassins to kill me, though when all attempts were met with failure, the Kazekage requested Yashamaru to kill me. As a result, Yashamaru tried to assassinate me, only to fail just as those before him. I dealt a lethal blow to him. But when I realized that it was Yashamaru, I was horrified, and screamed, before bursting into tears. Although I tried to dismiss Yashamaru’s attack as an order of the Kazekage, Yashamaru corrected me, by saying that he had willingly accepted the mission. Having never truly loved me, Yashamaru hoped that killing me would avenge the death of his sister, who had named me after the phrase “a self-loving carnage”. I grew up with no one to love me…up until these last couple for years, I’d never had a single friend.” I explained with much difficulty. Much to my shock, Yuki was crying.
oops, i forgot to up in here a disclaimer that says when it goes into Gaara’s POV, when it says This Yuki…that is when it goes into Gaara’s POV, sorry. and there is more to this than waht is posted, Yuki runs off with Gaara.

Take for instance like these “Body Modifiers”. Tattoo covering 90% of their body. Too many body piercing and mutilating piercing on the earlobes. Piercing and splitting of their tongue (to look like a serpent tongue). Objects placed under the skin to cause small bumps on their forehead to look like a demons horn starting to form. The worst of the worst……. branding their skin with a 1000 degree hot iron. Çausing the skin to just melt off and then leaving a horrific scar in the shape of whatever design they want. Why do people want to modify their body like that? Don’t they care what other people will think of them? They have to live like that for the rest of their life! A popularity growing here in America with American’s!
If you need to know they showed it on the Discovery Channel. The feature was Taboo (unusual practices).

Experiencing horrible nausea after piercings?

I just got a job at a tattoo parlor, and since I get the services for free, I decided to help out a new piercer by being her guinea pig tonight. I have six previous piercings (ears and lip) and have never had any problems with them. I got my nose and bellybutton done tonight and they did not hurt and were done correctly, and I was fine for at least 6 hours after the piercings – but I went to bed at 2 am and woke up at 5 am in a cold sweat with the inevitable feeling of needing to throw up.
I was dizzy and lightheaded and in a lot of stomach pain for about a half hour as I was throwing up, and the piercings are basically the only thing I can account the nausea with (I didn’t eat anything unusual).
Typically, I do not have a weak stomach – I’m not affected by the sight of blood, I have a very high pain tolerance – but recently, I have been throwing up when I eat sushi and other normal things I used to enjoy. The difference is that it has never been this painful and this intense, but more like an upset stomach… maybe I’m slowly turning into someone who can’t handle certain foods? And the piercings just put me over the edge somehow?
Sorry for the novel, but I’m very shaky and don’t know what to do. I’ve never been in this much internal pain, please help!
I am a female and I know I am definitely not pregnant, as I am 20 and a virgin. I used to be able to eat sushi no problem for years, but the last four times I had it (at different places), I have felt sick. Can you suddenly become allergic to certain things or did I just have really bad luck four times in a row with food poisoning?

Please tell me what you think of my story?

“Katie, don’t worry. Just rest,” my mother tried to sooth me with calming words, but her face told of her own distress. I nodded to her as if I could actually stop worrying just like that. She smiled with her lips, but her eyes were dead. I rested my head on my palm and closed my eyes. This whole year has been hard for our family, especially my grandfather, who now lay in the hospital bed in front of me. He was diagnosed with diabetes on New Year’s Day of last year, and just this morning had had a heart attack.
The clock struck noon as the steady beeps of the machine monitoring his heart beat tattooed on. I prayed with all my heart and soul that they wouldn’t stop. I squeezed my eyes shut tighter and the thought of the silence of the machine and his very life. I shuddered involuntarily and let the beeps lull me to sleep.
I was now in a pitch black room. I was startled by the sudden brightness of a spotlight showcasing my grandfather. I must have been dreaming, for he was standing but ten feet from me, pale and nervous. I didn’t mind this only being a dream that would pass within moments and was just happy to be with him because I didn’t know how many more moments we would have to share. Another being stepped into the light, but it seemed to have a glow all its own. I couldn’t make out its face, but in its presence I felt an unusual calm sweep over me, a sense of peace. It must be an angel, I thought.
“Luther,” the angel spoke, breaking the silence of the shadows, “Why do you stand before me?”
My grandfather shifted uncomfortably from his right foot to his left.
“I-I-I do not know,” he replied uncertainly, his voice trembling.
“Do you think you can fool me, Luther? You know well the reason you are here. You have had diabetes for a year now and yet your diet has changed none. You have refused to accept the condition, but, Luther; it is not your choice. You have hidden your struggles from your family and you did such a great job concealing it from them, you started to believe your own lies. ‘I am fine,’ I have heard you tell yourself, ‘This one cupcake won’t hurt me,’ but that one food changed into a whole line of bad choices. This, Luther, is why you are here.” the angel recited firmly, but with an edge of compassion. My grandfather seemed at his breaking point as I heard him inhale deeply.
“Yes,” he confessed, “It is all true,” he looked at his shoes ashamed. After a few moments of uneasy silence, he asked, “Oh, must this be the end?” As he said this, he looked up into the angel’s face.
“Luther,” the angel spoke softly, “There are too many people on earth that would miss you if I were to take you back with me. Yes, you have made some very awful decisions, but I cannot let you leave this behind just yet. Brother, I cannot punish your family for this. They have suffered already so greatly that I fear if I were to take you, their own lives would fall apart. You are a very special man, Luther, to have so many compassionate people in your life,” I smiled with disbelief as the angel told my grandfather he could come back to his life.
“But, angel, I do not understand,” my grandfather rebutted. I stared at him annoyed. Had the angel not told him he could live? Why did he want so desperately to die? “If it is my time to go, then let it be so. I cannot take my soul back down to earth if He wants it to join Him in Heaven. Oh, angel, I will see them again in His Kingdom, you know this. Why will you send me back if only to devastate them later. Surely, this time’s grief will be enough for them to endure,” he stared into the angel’s face pleadingly. I called silently to the angel, begging for him to be with us again.
“Luther, I know you hate the grief you cause them, but I assure you that the joy your saved life brings will overcome it greatly. Brother, they love you and would give up their own lives to save yours. In fact, right now Katie is calling out to me to save you,” the angel turned his blurred face in my direction and I could feel his gaze. My grandfather, startled, turned to see what the angel saw, but right before I made eye contact with him, I awoke. I had a tear running down my face as I realized my time with my grandfather and the angel was over. I was ready to break out in sobs just as my mother stood with excitement, hope written on face.
“Katie!” she called, “Come!” she smiled widely from ear to ear as I approached my grandfather’s bedside. He was stirring and a moment later his blue eyes looked into my own. I embraced him, as did my mother and a nurse came rushing in. He broke into a smile as he took in the sight of my mother and me, the sight of life itself. I knew by the way he took it all in that the dream had been so much more. My grandfather had been at death’s door, his guardian angel at his side, but he was not done with his time on earth. The way he looked at me was the only reassurance I needed.
“Oh, Katie,” he said silently, “Thank you. I’m alive”

I want to do something crazy to my hair or my face; like a piercing or other such crazy thing — but what?

I want to get something crazy done, but I don’t know what! I was thinking about a Monroe piercing, but my sister pointed out that Amy Winehouse has one, so I quickly forgot that Idea.
I would like an interesting and unusual piercing, but I want something really cool — and I don’t know enough about piercings to think of something really cool (or maybe I’m just a moron, lol).
I DON’T want to be too mainstream, too Scene, too Emo, or have anything done that a celebrity has popularised (I don’t mind doing something that a celebrity has done — celebrities have done most things — but I don’t want to do something that a celebrity has MADE cool).
I’m not against dying my hair, as long as it’s a colour that’s obviously not my natural colour (like lilac or something, but not lilac).
If it’s relevant, I’m a natural blonde with fairly pale skin and grey-green eyes.
Oh, and I’m too young for a tattoo (I’m 16), but I’m def getting one when I’m 18.

How To Screw Up an Interview?

We’ve all been interviewed for jobs. And, we’ve all spent most of those interviews thinking about what not to do. Don’t bite your nails. Don’t fidget. Don’t interrupt. Don’t belch. If we did any of the don’ts, we knew we’d disqualify ourselves instantly. But some job applicants go light years beyond this. We surveyed top personnel executives of 100 major American corporations and asked for stories of unusual behavior by job applicants. The lowlights:

1. “… stretched out on the floor to fill out the job application.”

2. “She wore a Walkman and said she could listen to me and the music at the same time.”

3. “A balding candidate abruptly excused himself. Returned to office a few minutes later, wearing a hairpiece.”

4. “… asked to see interviewer’s resume to see if the personnel executive was qualified to judge the candidate.”

5. “… announced she hadn’t had lunch and proceeded to eat a hamburger and french fries in the interviewer’s office – wiping the ketchup on her sleeve”

6. “Stated that, if he were hired, he would demonstrate his loyalty by having the corporate logo tattooed on his forearm.”

7. “Interrupted to phone his therapist for advice on answering specific interview questions.”

8. “When I asked him about his hobbies, he stood up and started tap dancing around my office.”

9 . “At the end of the interview, while I stood there dumbstruck, went through my purse, took out a brush, brushed his hair, and left.”

10. “… pulled out a Polaroid camera and snapped a flash picture of me. Said he collected photos of everyone who interviewed him.”

11. “Said he wasn’t interested because the position paid too much.”

12. “While I was on a long-distance phone call, the applicant took out a copy of Penthouse, and looked through the photos only, stopping longest at the centerfold.”

13. “During the interview, an alarm clock went off from the candidate’s brief case. He took it out, shut it off, apologized and said he had to leave for another interview.”

14. “A telephone call came in for the job applicant. It was from his wife. His side of the conversation went like this: “‘Which company? When do I start? What’s the salary?’ I said, ‘I assume you’re not interested in conducting the interview any further.’ He promptly responded, ‘I am as long as you’ll pay me more.’ I didn’t hire him, but later found out there was no other job offer. It was a scam to get a higher offer.”

15. “His attache [case] opened when he picked it up and the contents spilled, revealing ladies’ undergarments and assorted makeup and perfume.”

16. “Candidate said he really didn’t want to get a job, but the unemployment office needed proof that he was looking for one.”

17. “… asked who the lovely babe was, pointing to the picture on my desk. When I said it was my wife, he asked if she was home now and wanted my phone number. I called security.”

18. “Pointing to a black case he carried into my office, he said that if he was not hired, the bomb would go off. Disbelieving, I began to state why he would never be hired and that I was going to call the police. He then reached down to the case, flipped a switch and ran. No one was injured, but I did need to get a new desk.”

What is going on here?

Okay… here’s the deal. I met this guy at his place of employment during the summer. He’s a tattoo artist so we had several sessions together. During our times, we had lots of fun. We talked, laughed, flirted, compared upbringings, etc. I realize that this is part of his job but he seemed to be taking a really long time for a simple piece and, yet, undercharging at the same time.
Now, I am interested in getting into the tattoo business as well so I asked for help. He said he was happy to help and to contact him anytime. I stopped in a couple of times and have asked him a shitload of questions via internet. He’s always been very open to helping me.
I figured, we get along great, and I like making friends (even though neither of us is ‘single’) so I asked him to do something sometime over facebook.
This is where it got weird. He wrote back a bunch of flirty stuff. Things like “my kinda girl” and “so do you want to do this or what (referring to hooking up).” This wasn’t my original intention but, now that it’s been put in my mind… I am kinda considering it.
We agreed to do something (friend-wise but I was open to seeing where this led) but, when it came down to it he gave me the old “too busy”. Now, he hasn’t written back for almost a week (which is unusual). He is usually on facebook at least once/day, but he seem to have disappeared.
WTF? Right? He hit on me and now he’s scared off?
What does someone out there think? Where do I go from here? Forget it or take another shot? Yes I know we’re not single… so all you people on your high horses can spare me the lectures.
Thanks for the advice. Even those of you who were more harsh. I just needed a new perspective and, it’s a tough situation, so it’s not like I can ask anyone I actually know.
I think I’m going to let this one go for now. Maybe we can pick it up as friends/work colleagues in a couple of months when the whole flirting hardcore business can be forgotten or when he makes the initiative.
I do think he was testing the waters and got a little freaked out when the waters were, perhaps, a little too receptive.
But no, I didn’t hit on him first. I genuinely wanted to be friends. He started the whole next level thing… I am guilty of playing with fire.
But I think, in the end, I’m making the more mature choice thanks to the advice.
