I’m not a big fan of flash tattoos, but I know that they are the bread-and-butter for many tattoo shops and it is worth doing it right.
This book, “Asian Tattoo Flash,” is a collection of 125 royalty-free designs with an Asian-theme. Some of the flash are actual Asian art, for example a Kuniyoshi samurai or two. Some are much more modern, like a series of “little ninjas.” Most of the typical Asian elements are captured here, tigers and carp and dragons and phoenixes. The images are presented in a full-color version, along with a smaller line-drawing version that can be blown up and used as the cartoon for the tattoo.
There are several Chinese characters included as well, and what is nice is that they are in a calligraphic font which makes them more beautiful. Too many flash books use what is essentially typeface for their Chinese characters, which looks ridiculous.
A CD accompanies the book with all 125 images scanned at 300 dpi and saved as EPS vectors and JPEG files. The images are great quality, and could be printed right from the computer screen to hang on shop walls or put into a book.
